Ged, do you know if it has a plastic or metal impeller? I'm just wondering how they would stand up to pumping bio.

I've been using a similar pump on my bio dispensing rig for several years ... very infrequent use but the business end sits in bio all the time.

I think the vanes are a white plastic possibly Nylon or similar.

Why, are you looking for one, Chug?

If I was still pump hunting, I'd be after this bad boy:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Calpeda-Vertical-Multistage-Pump-MXSUM-405-0110005527-/161889258099

133lpm multistage, tasty.

Ooo ... shiny!

It's difficult to see from the photos, but is that a four core cable ... possibly 3ph?

However, if it's the same Surbiton, that's quite close to me ... happy to pick it up if anyone is interested.

On the label it states 220/240 volts and requires a capacitor.

That's probably what the forth wire is for.

Ah, well spotted, that bit of the label was covered by the bar with thumbnails of the other photos when I looked ... I must pay more attention!

OK there's only so much pump porn I can take before I blow some cash, he relisted it at £80 BIN, and I offered him £70, so it's on the way to me now.  I'm sure Jim's 80lpm eductor and venturi that he made for me really won't mind a bit of extra oompf behind them, I've got plenty of 1 1/4" steel pipe and a 1 1/4" die kit so bring it on (when I get the time!)

In case anyone is (like me) eyeing this Mono stator and wondering if it will fit their ML:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291732390145

...don't bother - I asked Mono and it's not compatible.

That surprises me ... I always thought the "G" range was just a bare shaft version of the "MM" or "ML" with only the "MS" being a different design.  Did they say why it wouldn't fit?

No... perhaps it doesn't fit for profiteering reasons?

I think that's a distinct possibility.

If you want to give it a shot, I've got an a couple of MMs or MLs (can't remember which they are) in the garage that I can easily take apart and measure the critical dimensions of stator for you.

I've looked at a lot of datasheets for the G range pumps, and the exploded diagrams show very clearly exactly the same head arrangement, even the rotor has the same number of "bumps" so I think it's a fair bet that it'll fit.  I've got a new rotor so I can twiddle that down the stator and see if it all looks OK.

My only concern is that perhaps the stator (and rotor) are slightly different diameters for some reason.  But why go to the effort of tooling for the manufacture of just slightly different parts?  I can't imagine that the rotors are cheap to manufacture.

So, I've bought it.  Worst case is sell it on again.

My ML works OK, it's just that it's had many hours used as a water pump before I got it, and it's pumped tens of thousands of liters of manky veg over the years that I've owned it.  The poor thing is a bit overdue some TLC.

Good move ... I'd be very interested to see if it fits ... I'd go 95% sure on it fitting.

I don't even think there's a difference between an MM and ML ... I believe one just has a faster (possibly more powerful) motor.

Manky, slippy, slimy oil is probably the kindest thing you can run through a Mono!
