Totally agree.  Water is probably worse for it!

Im sure that, on the occasions im stuck, and i use the mono to pump bio / glyc with the nitrile stator - well, i think that will be the death of mine.

In fairness, i always pump some veg through after, and leave it with veg inside it.

I think you'll be surprised how long it will last used that way.  When mine had a nitrile stator, I used to pump bio often and never purged it.  The only reason for replacing it was because I dead ended it and the stator flange tore.

Well, this is not looking good.  The stator arrived but I can't screw the rotor into it very far.  I assume this should be quite easy, so perhaps they have different pitches?

Oh! sounds a little worrying ... tried a bit of lub?

If rotor and stator are the same length it should be easy to count the "wobbles" to check the pitch.

Rotor has three bumps and stator four - bugger!

Clutching at straws possibly, but could a "bump" in the stator equate to a "dip" in the rotor?

A whole bunch of stators just came on eBay for the MM/ML, standard rubber and Hypalon.  Stock remaining, go grab 'em at this bargain price :)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301932378353

Chemical compatibility chart

http://www.mossrubber.com/pdfs/Chem_Res.pdf

What is odd is that chart says that Hypalon is not oil resistant, which is the opposite of what I've read elsewhere - for example, these document say "Good" for animal and vegetable oils
http://robinsonrubber.com/pdfs/HypalonRubber.pdf
http://www.amesrubberonline.com/pdf/hypalon.pdf

Does anyone know what the standard stator material is?  Nitrile or EPDM?

I've got a ***** (can't find a collective noun for pumps ... answers on a postcard please) of Monos in the garage.  I'm very tempted at those prices to put in an order so at least one runs like new.

Same guy is also offering MM/ML mechanical seals at very reasonable price ... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mono-pump-MM-ML-type-mechanical-seal-/301934555183?hash=item464cb3b02f:g:U8kAAOSwIUNXFnTu

Bet he used to work in the Mono stores!

My offerings for a collection of pumps are ...

A cavitation of pumps
A head of pumps
A leak of pumps

and on a more personal level ...

A Frank of pumps
and
A Heather of pumps
