i got this with a lot of help from julian. ;)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321654015847?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Glad you won it ... I can't believe no one else bit (have to admit I was temped even though I don't need it), I guess that's the price the seller pays for a not very inspiring description.

Jut pull it apart, give it the once over and cover all the internals with WVO before you run it.  Then post up how it compares to all the other pumps you've tried!

Left.*

*I don't own one. I've never taken one apart. But that's where I'd start.

Having done it many times, I'd start on the left too.

There's a manual on the wiki ... http://www.biopowered.co.uk/w/images/7/7a/Mono_MS_manual.pdf

And a load of photos, but they show repair of the mechanical seal which is further into the pump than you need to go ... http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/Pump_-_Mono_MS

I have to say it does look like it could be unused.  Absolute bargain if it is.

They used to have red plastic guards on the two slots between motor and pump, but they're not important if you don't stick your fingers in the holes!

This is what you'll see when the end is off ...

And this with the stator removed from the rotor ...

brill, will give it a go tomorrow.

it does look unused, none of the screws on the back of the motor look like they have been touched, i just think its a tad rusty.

now, what to do with 1500L of slop.....

i can probably last another week, then im going to have to get some svo :-[

ok, strips the pump.

by the way ged, the bit in the middle is rubber, so dont panic when you get hold and it squishes a bit.

i thought i`d eaten too much spinach.

cant see any splits in the rubber bit...

the screwy bit looks......screwy?

nice clear labeling on the lecky bits.

so, connects it up, fills full of liquid veg and turns on.

doesnt self prime......

 :(

listens carefully and hears hiss of inrushing air.

pisses about with hoses and tries again.

works.....

but im not sure what the LPM should be.

i`m getting about 20....

now i will admit to being a bit disappointed. so i filled my three cubbies to put in the car and looked round the shed at all the gloop i have.......

gloop.....

ok, tries the 25 micron filtered gloop.......

and it went through at about 20lpm....

so i tries the 50micron gloop....

and it went through at about 20lpm....

so i got cocky and turned round.

there it was. the gloop that wouldnt even go through a 500ish micron net curtain.

and it went through at about 20lpm........

so, first impressions.

its not fast, but i get the distinct impression that it will pump anything liquid ish for as long as i ask it to.

yes, it was brand new and after a quick call to mono, it was made early eighties.

happy?

ohhh yessss  ;D ;D ;D

We use them on ship (well, not mono - normally Chinese knockoff) for pumping sludge - as in the thick horrible nasty stuff that comes out of the lube oil/fuel oil. Thicker than treacle.

The pump will shift it into the shore tanker at about 200L/min. It is a big one mind. About 20kW if I remember rightly.

Looks like you got yourself a bargain there!
