RM Mod Peugeot 205/306/405/406 - Peugeot filter with "HIDDEN heat exchanger" Unveiled and modded

for people who dont know about or seen the heat exchanger under the pug filter this is what it looks like.

ok re: my air intake issues on my pug 405 i have narrowed it down to MAINLY the heated filter, now this filter has many points to leak at as you will see from the pictures that follow, and this is what i did to help solve the issue.

points to note is i have taken out totally the stat that controls flow in the filter so now all oil/wvo has to go through the HE before hitting the filter hence getting maximum temp the engine reaches 70/80c which is nice, and passing this heat on fully to the oil, when the stat was in i think when hot it stopped the fuel passing through the HE and let it go into filter first.

check the picture with my one pence "PENNY" trick ;) this totally blocks the fuel going to filter and makes it go down through HE first to heat the oil constantly! :) basically making the HE inline aswell as the filter inline after the HE, instead of the stat combining the HE filter.

this is all the parts that make up the inside stat control, which i am going to get rid off shortly... ;)

this is the bleed off valve for water in the fuel, i couldnt seal this totally so added an extra o ring which now it seals big time! :)

now this is where it gets interesting, i took the guts out the stat and cut it shorter and added a penny into the hole to block off the fuel going into filter, now fuel has to all go through the HE then up into filter, also i silicon sealed this sucker in as this o ring was pants to.

this is the stat top silicon sealed in

and this is the water senser silicon sealed in now too...

this is where the oil goes down and through the HE

and this is as far as i got, i sanded the base ready to fit and silicon seal tomorrow with the oring back on car, got to dark outside so couldnt finish it, going to sand the HE area too to make the both faces mate nicely with sealer and o ring :)
