What difference does running it at 60Hz  make to enable it to complete reactions quicker ?

With an induction motor (which all of our pump motors are, excepting DC or funky pumps) the speed it runs at is a function of frequency.

Driving at 60Hz over 50Hz means it runs 20% faster. (ish...there's something slip too which varies depending on load, but ignore it to grab the principle of the thing)

Generally, you can drive a motor to the maximum rated current without ill effect - which you can achieve using an inverter drive as pump motors are normally oversized. So you can drive them faster, until you reach the maximum rated motor current. You also need to consider cavitation too as if you run too fast then the pump will start to cavitate.

For short durations, you can quite happily drive an induction motor at 10x rated current. Or longer if you improve cooling - which is how electric cars can derive so much power from a very small motor.

Hmmm...slight tangent at the end there. I've been at the homebrew.

Mono MM / ML near Gloucester.

May have been a Marine pump sold by a company I used to work for as it's designated CGF wish I could remember what the other numbers meant.

Buy it now £150 ...

Needs a motor.  Can't remember the exact spec., but unlike the MS pump the MM and ML use a standard flange mounted motor.

Alternatively a flange and bearing mounted shaft could be made to turn it into a bare shaft pimp and driven with a belt drive.  With a belt drive it could be run faster than normal increasing the capacity.

Looks like the business end of my ML.  Except I only paid £26 for the whole pump!

I know, it's not cheap, but could well be unused looking at the plugs.

Another mono, a macerator this time.

Three phase, we've got one at work as a sewage pump from a tank at the side of the building to the foul water drain further up the hill.  Definitely a beast that would eat burnt chips for lunch.

I had a 12v version of one of those on a boat I once owned, not something you want to get your fingers caught in.

It did jam once when a female visitor put a tampon down the loo, great fun cleaning that lot out.

Jim's 12v one must be a bit weedy, the macerator above will munch most things!

As Tony says mine would never compare with that monster but you still wouldn't want to get mangled in it, it was powered with a motor about as powerful as a car starter with the same size cables.

There WAS a sign on the door stating "If you haven't eaten it DON'T put it down the loo" followd by "Anything over 2kg must be lowered by hand".
