was keeping an eye on that one - not that i need another mono, but its close to Rachel's folks' place...

the trouble that i found with my ML was that, although the purchase price might be low, the rotor and stator cost so much if theyre knackered that it still works out an expensive pump.

i forgot to bring the little petrol powered mono to the bbb (JAP engine)

Badly described Mono in Manchester.  Unfortunately 3 phase, but a suitable single phase should be an easy find or could be connected with a home made coupling.

Starting at just 99p on a three day auction.

I'm tempted just for spares as one of mine has stripped threads on the suction port ... couldn't be near home could it!

It didn't sell, so I messaged the guy with a cheeky offer and asked if he pack just the pump for collection.  Must have been a little too cheeky 'cause he never replied!

Any how, here's another little MS in Maldon, Essex.  Reasonable start price ...

Nice and shiny!  Cheap for a brand new Mono, but still a lot of money but most people's standards ...

Doesn't say if it's single or three phase.  Horrid colour ... think I've seen processors painted that colour in the past!

After messing about with one of my Leo pumps today, trying to get it to prime, with a leaking seal (i have 4-off them - they all leak now!) i was dreaming of having another (electric) mono...

...or maybe just getting some quick release fittings for my existing one.  They're still heavy (to move about) as pumps go though.

It's an industrial slurry pump.  Moves lumpy cold veg like it's water.  One of the best bits of kit I've ever invested in.

Mono is the manufacturer? Known for a particular style of pump, which has taken the name?

That's right, Mono is the industry big name though some companies copy it like Moyno.

They are progressive cavity pumps, so any lumps just get pulled through, no issues.

Proper pumps are expensive, at work they pay that just to have pumps resealed! Italian and German pump are several hundred for a tam type pump.

We have a about 10 in one building that are 415v ones with 6 inch inlets, they draw about 80amp on startup, dread to think what each one costs to replace.

will read up on them

There's quite a bit on them on the wiki.  Manuals for the MS, MM and ML range are in the manuals section and there's a "botch it for free" mechanical seal renovation on an MS which has a separate page.

They are built like brick toilet blocks. None of them shift vast quantities of fluid, but they are self priming, will create high pressures and will pump pretty much any thing you can throw at them.  Two golden rules ... never let them run dry (not too much of a problem when running oil) and never run them against a closed head, especially the MS.

You can buy Viton stators for them, but the standard Nitrile stators seem fine for WVO and glycerin.

And yes, 200 quid is very cheap for a new one!
