Looking good Kieth.
My father had a 72 westy 1750 twin carb when I was a boy, had it 10 years or so and only lost £200 in value over that time.

The dash looks great, pity about the bubbling in places but walnut is very hard to get flat, cedar, rosewood or mahogany would have been much easier to work with.
Skoda Yeti L&K 2L TDI 150 CR DPF Adblue, running pimp diesel.
VW Golf SV 1.4 TSI DSG.

Also got the sunroof operating properly thanks to Julian, he made the grey bits in the pic for me, unavailable from Mercedes

Oh come on ... if someone came on here saying they wanted to buy a processor off ebay the answer would be a resounding ... "build it yourself".

I have to say I'd recommend exactly the same thing, both on the basis of price and learning how the thing operates. The latter is an immense help in modifying, maintaining and running the machine.

Prices seem to be dropping quite a bit.  Wanting an Arduino board (micro controller) to play with, I've just bought a complete electronic control system (less 3 limit switches) for £35.00.

Exactly what I want to do,  mechanical side I can do with me eyes shut but would probably need some help with the electronics.

I'm thinking of making molds for castings, centrifuge bowl for one.

As offered before, happy to help where I can.

Electronics aren't my strong point either, but if you buy completed boards, it's really just a matter of carefully and methodically wiring them together. If it was difficult, I wouldn't be able to do it!  Based on my recent purchase I recon you could build one for about 150 - 160 quid now.

Maximum size you'll get on the bed of a typical cheap printer is around 200 x 200 x 140 high, probably a little small for a centrifuge bowl.  If you're thinking of an investment casting, what about a makeshift lathe (drill, vice etc) and making the pattern in polystyrene?
