i dont know what youre wanting to join (cant see the photo) but if its such a weak joint that you would consider solder, you might want to have a look at adhesives, as some of them can be very strong. if you have a large contact area may be able to create a bond stronger than what's sticking out.

i think one of the little lotus sports cars has its chassis glued together, rather than welded.

You could silver solder/braze with the torch and MAPP gas but you would have to ask James if its suitable for the metals

When you say iron in the OP, do you mean mild steel? Mild steel and stainless steel will silver solder very well. In the past, I've used the same rod and flux as I use for copper.

yes to botom fins i need to weld those fins on a stick this part gets pushed in the ground
