Do you know what frame size the 3ph motor is?  If it's 71 frame for example it could easily be replaced.

no idea of what that is?

I've just googled 71 frame. Not really sure if I read it right but it looks as though it relates to the body, flange or both. 3 phase is still 3 phase............unless I've read it and got it wrong.....which can be quite often and regular. ;D

As I understand it, the frame size is the area of the motor's flange, where it bolts to a pump for example.  I guess the best way to measure this is by measuring the centres between the holes on the motor's flange (is this called pcd?). You also need to measure the diameter of the shaft and it helps to know if it there is a keyway on the shaft.

3phases I think are more efficient, so a 3 phase 0.37kw motor could be 63 frame size, whereas the 1ph equivalent would be 71 frame.  I suspect that you could get a 3ph 0.37kw motor in 71 frame though.

Common shaft sizes are 11mm 14mm and 18mm

Converting 3ph to single phase will be at the cost of the motor's power.  An electrical engineer will give more precise info, but a 1/2 hp motor at 3ph could be less than 1/3hp converted to 1ph.  Probably not the best way forward.

For sale here is a very  little used single phase to three phase converter. It was bough for my previous workshop that had no 3 phase power, to run a 4HP milling machine. The machine only ran once or twice a year, and I moved after 18 months, and now have 3 phase. Perfect for the home model maker, it has several different setting to suit your machine size. I can send this by Fedex Overnight for £10.00. or collect from Littlehampton, West Sussex for free.  Low starting price and no reserve. Good luck
