If you can find a Variable Frequency Drive (with single phase input) cheap enough, then that would also drive a three phase motor - with the advantage of being able to change the speed/soft start/reverse etc.

Hang on did you say that was 8.5kW?  I don't think the inverter above is rated that high.  And a VFD of that power would be big $$$.

yes spec on that pump says 8.5 that is a beast of 11HP

above bit of kit stated by the owner can only go to 4HP so not good for this but may come in handy for other uses or members sheds  ;)
