That's interesting.  At the risk of going too far off topic there used to be a bio producer down my way that winterised his commercial biodiesel with Methanol.

Watch this... if the installers of the aluminium-finned flame arrester had known it, then two of the chaps fitting the roof may not have died.

Scary stuff!

Nasty. Easy to see how it could happen. Seems a bit thtupid making the flash arrestor out of aluminium in the first place mind. Its surely going to corrode up over time, with or without the Methanol. Although, to be fair, they did say it should have been serviced every 12 months.

Im looking for a quick release coupling that shuts the flow off when disconnected, these look like they may be suitable but im not sure that they shut the flow off, any opinions?

Where / how were you thinking of using them?

The Filtertechnik ones seal perfectly.  They use them on the rigs, so it could be worth a call to Mike - see if they'll sell them as a part.

Some of these -

I think with all due consideration, despite being Aluminium, if these are used for oil transfer then they should be fine.  I may well have to save up for a few of these for the new processor.  Do the different "types" just designate different pipe fitments (male/female bsp/barb)?

What is the "Viton seal" they talk about?  Is that just a sealing o-ring?

so far as i can tell -

type a/d are a paid for connecting to male bsp
type c/e for hoses
type b/f for female bsp

and then, of course, you can mix and match as you see fit.

i want to get some for my mono pump - i use it for general purpose veg shifting, so it has a suction tube and a 30m 3/4 hose attatched... permenantly - which does not make for much fun when i want to move it about.

i dont think theyre 'complex' like the iso couplers, so i suspect the seal just sits in a recess somwhere, and, as it says -

All Fittings are supplied as standard with NBR seals, with Viton and NBR Filled Teflon (PTFE) available seperately

the stator in my mono is not viton, so ive never given these seals much thought!

So from your last two replies you're confirming there has been a relationship with said lady and that you kept his pants as a trophy.

Nuff said.
