Hi
What about a cheap phone hooked on net with unlimited net, maybe using a cheap laptop to process?
Net package about 15quid a month, but it could be sent to phone/work?
also thinking about using spy/hole/door camera that could be plugged into pc
Cheers

I have had one of these for about 4 years now and it has always been mounted outside under cover,  the wifi side is pretty unreliable unless very close to the router. The motion detection has been useless, on all settings it kept firing off pictures and emails. Mine does not have an Sd card facility so they have obviously been upgraded. Having said that it has a flashing led and you can see the IR lamps at night and I feel certain that in itself is a deterrent.

I would like a Pro Ptz external network camera but way out of my price range.

been looking at these since you mentioned them. look good and simarlar funtions eccept these have 27 to 37 times zoom, area black out for privacy, lock on to motion for few secs and record, but a £2500 price tag ouch.

It shouldn't be a big problem to find out who did the break in, RM. A bit of a guess and a few "enquiries" around the cheaper end of town. The plod probably ain't gonna do anything, even if they know who did the break in.
Wonder if any of it will end up in car boot sales. Maybe a bit early in the year for them.

im disgusted in forensic guy and community support officer lady, so yeah your right there, we all ready put the feelers out just waiting to see what pops up, we got our own thoughts on this, the burglar may not of been the person wanting all the keys? nothing else was touched in the house, stayed down stairs. no draws opened jewelry and cash left. took small flat screen tv and laptop on way back out door only. left 3 phones next to keys, 1 brand new expensive one, burglar never took power cords for tv or laptop (so useless and an idiot)

he has a 3 grands worth land rover discovery

21 grand brand new works truck cab pickup/tipper, 4 grands worth of kit in it

06 plate skoda fabia

vw t4, old work truck

pug 306 convertable (converted to veg oil from petrol)

he is now swapping trucks with one of the other 20 they have at work, and its in a lockup for safety till keys and code change, i blocked his 2 cars in with my big boxer van till locks sorted at home on drive...

on a side note the discovery keys and alarm is being done by a guy coming out. we phoned landrover to get 2x codes from reg number, then given to key man and he makes an original key before coming out, he will open door then strip locks apart door and ignition, reconfigure barrel pins in both and make a new key on job in his van and reset code alarm fob with new circuit baord, = £250

If you want as cheap as possible then:

http://www.etradehouse.com/Prd_Detail.aspx?prd_id=15989

Plus:

http://www.etradehouse.com/Prd_Detail.aspx?prd_id=17345

Also:

http://www.etradehouse.com/prd.aspx?cat_name=CCTV_/_DVR_Accessories&subcat_name=CCTV%20Cameras%20Cables

Ready made cable, just guess how long you need by planning your cable route and measuring it.

You will also need a HDD (3.5 inch sata).

You will also need 12v 1amp psu for each camera, (maplin or ebay).

Hope that helps!

oh to any landrover discovery people who loose keys, get under car and put a live to reversing light switch and negative to body off separate battery, which lights up the electric window buttuns inside, then pull back top corner of door and poke a long stiff wire through crack onto door window switch to drop windows.

Hmmm, good export on vehicles. Even better if they can drive them away without having to do any damage.
