fricken electrical solder

rant time.......

i got 2 coils of solder in my house somewhere and do you think i can find them, is driving me nuts, ben in every box, cupboard, draw and no luck...

i keep sitting down and trying to switch off thinking where the hell did i put that stuff, all i know its very safe somewhere lol...

oh well ben offf to shops for a third roll, bought second cos i lost first hahaha...

It could be worse, I spent two days on and off (while the wife was at work) looking for my silver solder and flux,
on the second day she asked what I was looking for.

You guessed it, she knew exactly were it was

Not just you, I spent a lot of this weekend looking for a box I've got with a selection of bolts and nuts in, missus looking too - eventually found it in a corner of the shed, must've gone past it 50 times, grrrr!

And on the subject of soldering, I know where everything is. I get a load of pipes all cleaned up and fluxed, and the blowtorch has a fetch. The flame just gets weaker and weaker. It sounds like there is plenty of gas in the cylinder. I've chucked the jet in some thinners now. I think its blocked. i could have finished the job today if that hadn't happened. Infuriating.

are you trying to work in the cold? i found that the flame does that when the temperature is low. try sticking the  gas in some warm water.

very good piont the lpg bottles on the gas burner when roofing used to freeze up on full bore and cold weather..

You could be right there. The flame is coming out on an angle, but thinking about it, it burns at the end of the shroud anyway, not at the jet. It keeps flashing back and burning in the shroud as well, but I suppose that could be because of the low pressure. I'll try it. cheers.
