well still not found it, but managed to get 4 inches off a friend for now...

Did he enjoy it?
Rotary probably did!

I suppose one of those solders is the one i got?

Well I left the jet of the blow torch in thinners over night. Still wasn't right. Cleaned the shroud in thinners, then tried putting the gas bottle in warm water. Made a real scary boiling noise, so stopped doing that. I phoned Rothenberger and they said it definitely should not be flashing back into the shroud, and cold shouldn't affect it down to - 15. Take it back where you got it from. I'd already rung the place where I got it from, I was going to jut try a new gas cylinder. When I got there and showed them what was happening, they gave me a brand spanking new blowtorch. No questions asked, just gave it to me.
