Mark pointed out to me that since they are so deep they can easily be cut in half to make two. So mine are off with a mate for a bit of lathe work today

Don't forget to take lots of photos, we don't yet have a page on in-line heaters.

There's something I thought of a while back and never got round to trying. It's for creating the shape of the hole where the inlet and outlet, tangentially intersect the body ... try setting up the pipe, just spaced above the body, and shine a light from directly above. It may cast a shadow of the pipe on the body.

Be interesting to see if it works.

Hey that's a good idea.

I have a set of these HSS burrs to use making the odd port shapes prior to welding on the pipe:

Cheap - will see how they perform vs the thick steel on those disposable argon bottles.

I used similar, but cheaper looking, ones on my (non)gas cylinder, after chain drilling the hole.

Mine were commissioned by Keith, but I think Steve (e3msb) sells them on VOD, £12 for one or £22 for two delivered.

I don't know if Steve's are big enough to machine down into two like Keith's were.

Keith, from your past experience, did you buy pipe the correct ID to be threaded with your tap?

I'm just wondering if they would be any more economical to produce by thread cutting on the lathe.

Yes i came across a short length (40") of 3" wide tube,internal diameter of 2 3/8 and walls of 8ml and they ended up been done on a lathe,thats why i let Jim have the tap,but as i dont have a lathe i was paying to have them made
