i think a big fire and a hamster wheel with a dog or 2 to turn it. or a small child, trouble with a small child is we may have to feed it. alternatively weights seem to be the easiest. with a suitable gearbox. there are going to be people around all the time to reset the weights. could even have a alarm when the weights get to the bottom of their travel. a small explosion maybe to be in keeping with the spirit of the occasion. there will be plenty of oil to make weights from.

I really like the idea of some sort of mechanism, a wheel, a weight and a tensioner, or a pushbike rigged to an alternator to charge a battery to run the motor, so people have to peddle for some pig.
