Ran the tap down both suction and discharge ports and they cleaned up quite well. Not as bad as I first thought, but I still wouldn't do the fittings up too tight!

Awaiting instructions.

Datasheet says it will push 80lpm @ 19m head (1.86 bar) whereas mine "only" do 80lpm @ 9m head (0.88 bar).

Either way great for running venturis with little or no loss of flow (my venturi back pressure is 0.85 bar with liquid being drawn in or side port closed, and 1.0 bar with side port drawing air/vapour).

It's a bit pricey but maybe if it doesn't sell he'll take an offer?

there's no hurry... but if anyone spots a very slow pump give me a shout ?

planning to centrifuge with a bowl type centrifuge, so a couple of litres/min would be great for a nice slow single pass through fuge :-)

I built a bowl type centrifuge. I think 2ltrs /min would be a bit fast unless the bowl is very tall. Aside from the fact that it might explode, I never pursued it's use because of the slow through put.

I guess with a little more effort at automation and a suitable pump ... possibly a big peristaltic, it could be pressed into use.

I've got some photos somewhere, I'll see if I can find them.

I'm planning to switch to heating boilers via thermal oil at work (it's safer than gas) but that means I need to pump thermal oil that's up to 300'C.... the 'official' pumps I know about start at £2000....

so I was thinking I'll use a pump like above, and extend the shaft, so the pump head can be in the hot oil, and the motor can be well away from it ontop of the tank...

That, or at least that design, looks like a suds pump off a lathe to me.

By the sounds of it you just want a bare shaft pump that you can drive by any method of your choice.

That's a vertical sump pump. You want the opposite of "close coupled" whatever that's called.

awesome, now I know what to look for I can keep my eye out for a decent 2nd hand one, or if I have to, I can get a new one when I need it (no hurry yet)

my parents had one years ago pumping out the sump in the cellar... it was donkeys years old when they moved in 50 years ago and they only got rid of it recently because it was noisy and freaked out the new dog if it came on in the night... wish they still had it, it would have probably been ok with a new set of bearings!
