Such a waste of public money.
« on: April 03, 2014, 11:33:55 AM »
The second of the two fire engines is still outside - im guessing it will leave in a moment.

So, we have had -

Environmental health here,
Then the Environment Agency,
Then the Police and some other council agency, whom i cant recall the name of.
Then, as a spin off, building control.
Now two fire engines.

Ahh, the second of which has just left.

This must drive my neighbor mad.  Fancy calling all those people, and still you cant get someone 'done'.

I'd be getting a solicitors letter to them threatening court action if he/she/they persist in harrasing me about pursuing a completely legal activity.

I told my neighbours exactly what I was doing, that it is legal and gave them ruling covering home brewing and the EA contact.

I did it because one of them is a nasty selfish inconsiderate spiteful bitch, if I hadn't I'd have gone through what you are now.

The neighbour must be leaving herself open to some kind of legal action.
I'm guessing that the various different services can't tell you specifically who has called them out, but they know themselves.
Liike Jim said, get a solicitor to at least make a few threats. If the solicitor lodges a harassment case, then it's possible that the services will make it known who is calling them out. Also, they should be able to work between each service, to make the case.
Sorry for you mate.

What were they all called out for?

Because she does not like where i park my trailer.

Of course, what she says on the phone varies, and, im sure, never mentions trailers! ; )

It used to be a problem - the first time we got a visit we were fearful that we might be doing something wrong, but the more you get into this stuff, the easier it is to make sure you're above board.

Got another one to add to the list now!

Contractor from Calorgas has just turned up.  She called them after the fire brigade left!

Apparently all cylinders are owned by Calorgas, so it seems that ive chopped up one of their tanks.  There was nothing on the outside of the tank even saying it was Calorgas, nor any mention of ownership.

Ill claim coercion -

I'd be surprised if ALL cylinders are owned by Calorgas.

Neighbours getting involved what happens next door on private property is definitely one of the things wrong with this country - mind your own business!  >:(

Now that im in there, ive been calling up to see what happens next.  Got one right aggressive chap - you would have thought all the things belonged to him personally.

Chap said that it was extremely dangerous.  He was kind of on a hard sell, considering i was telling him id just done it, and we were talking on the phone....

Found this on calor's site -

"Calor has placed more than 10 million cylinders on to the British market with a replacement value of well over £200 million."

If my sums are right, that means each cylinder costs 'over' £20.  If the number was £300 million, you would imagine that they would use the higher figure, so, we're talking over £20, under £30.

What's the deposit on these things?  £39 i think.  And still the 'own' them.

I thought you'd posted that up as a joke!  But if you are serious consider the following ...

Calour would have to prove that the cylinder is theirs, before they could take an further action.  The word of an aggrieved neighbour probably wouldn't hold water legally.

To prove it's theirs they would need to inspect it and to do that they would need access to your property.

You of course deny them access as is your right ... I doubt they have any legal powers of entry.

From that point theres not really a lot they can do.

What would happen if some one dumped a gas bottle in your garden.  It's the gas companies property, so you phone them up and ask them to remove it.  Give them a week to do so and then charge them reasonable storage charges.

Would they come out and collect it?  Be interesting to find out.

Back tracking a little -

Chap came from the gas company.  I could have refused him entry, however, i suspect that would have created a whole additional set of issues.

So, he came, he saw, he left.  He was just a contracted inspector, and knew nothing of potential outcome.

From there, i called Calor's customer services.
They put me on to another department.
Who told me to call the local distributor.  This was the aggressive chap who told me i would kill myself.
He asked me if i wanted to speak with their legal team, so i called them.

Bare in mind that, at this point, i was on the system anyhow, so its always better to take these things on, rather than let them come to you.

Called the legal people.  Blah blah blah.. metal theft, people blowing themselves up, etc.  The short of it being that ive now been told, there going to call off the hounds,  and someone is coming to pick up the remnants tomorrow.

Im told even the water board are now on red alert, due to me tipping gas down the drain.  (what my neighbor reported).

So, an entertaining morning.  Nothing more will come of it, but im a cylinder down.

Yes, before anyone posts about "you shouldnt have let them in", ill re-itterate - i suspect that could have caused further issues.  Maybe, maybe not, but either way, that was the path i took.

What a bunch of retards.
Can you hide the gas bottle somewhere, or get it off the property?
When they turn up to collect it, look surprised and tell them they have already been.
