Sounds up my street, might give it a go :)

AI has to be the next step in evolution.  We'll make ourselves (squishy meat bags that we are) redundant in the not-distant future, I'm sure.

I doubt it'll be "conciousness upload" though.

once they make a program which can re-write and improve itself, it'll go so fast we won't be able to keep up, it'll be too advanced for us to understand within hours

Then they will connect it up to the defence systems, which will quickly work out that we are the main enemy, and nuke Russia, so Russia nukes us. Then I will, sorry, a big robot will fight another big robot and save the world.
