just watched "the grand budapest hotel." one of wes andersons best so far. i wouldn't say THE best as i think that would be to subjective. watched it on the big screen. well worth forking out the money to see it at a cinema as there are some tricks that wouldn't look right  on a small screen. will go and see it again before it disappears. luckerly penzance has a good arts cinema with little popcorn munching or people that leap out of thier seats as soon as the credits start to roll.

Err, something a bit different from my normal fare.
The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe.
No, I haven't gone stark staring bonkers. It's actually pretty good.
If you thought the book was good, sat reading it on your Aunties knee when you were six years old, then you'll like the film.
I really should read the book again.

Sounds interesting.
Just wading through my collection to decide on tonights viewing.

cloud atlas very good film...

I'd watch it again, but I've watched it twice now. I'm wary of not leaving enough time between re watching good films, in case I get bored of them, and it puts me right off.
I watched a few too close together, and can't sit through them now.

just watched cloud atlas. i am not sure,, it certainly doesn't have that Hollywood  feel about it, which is good, but i thought it was trying to do too much even in 3 hours. sort of film to watch when full of dinner on a wet sunday afternoon with nothing else to do.

museum hours is a excellent film. just to show what can be done with just 2 main characters and one main set.

I saw it on the big screen with the kids.  Wasn't expecting much but it's a really good movie.

"John dies at the End"

Stumbled upon it just recently - i thought it was excellent, but im not sure if Rachel enjoyed it as much.  Different history, i guess?

edit:

Just found this quote from a review -

Quote
there’s rarely any certainty about what’s real and what Dave and John have unintentionally conjured from their drug-addled, reality-warping subconscious. Still, there’s an underlying sense that the pair are taming the drug as the adventure progresses, and by the end of the film the ratio of chemically-induced terror to chemically-induced heroism (a twisted, non-traditional sort of heroism, but heroism all the same) gradually shifts into their favor. It’s a subtle transition that could’ve been easily overdone – or even not done at all – but Coscarelli does a nice job of turning his aimless slackers into our dimension’s best hope for survival.

...but its way more 'fun' and fast moving to watch than, say, a scanner darkly, or naked lunch (etc).

The Island

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399201/

Starts off as a cracking sci-fi Orwellian-style movie but descends into car and flying vehicle chases with lots of shooting.  Still quite enjoyable though!

The entire Alien collection. Nine CDs including the Directors cuts, all for £3.......
Is the directors cut any better than the standard version?
