Anhydrous Sodium Methylate (ASM) Storage
« on: February 21, 2013, 07:34:30 PM »
I've just received this information that I requested from my supplier regarding the storage of Anhydrous Sodium Methylate. This info has come from the manufacturers.

 NM = ASM

Storage:
Shelf life of the product is 12 months upon delivery in dry and original packaging. Storage temperature should not exceed 30°C. During winter time at temperatures below 10°C the active ingredient may start to precipitate. Warming with agitation will help solve the active ingredient again.

Crystalisation temperatures of NM solutions.
NM 25     -2°C
NM 28      0°C
NM 30      5°C

So for those who took delivery of the first lot, and those who are yet to receive from the second batch, which is here by the way, please store your chemicals with the above information in mind.

It appears as though information received from what I considered a reliable source was not quite correct regarding the storage tempeartures of this product. I was told that -10°C was the point at which we would be likely to experience precipitation issues. It now appears that +10°C is rather more critical.

Please accept my appologies..
