THE GREAT EGG RACE 2013
« on: February 09, 2013, 06:11:22 PM »
hi guys and gals

We had the card game at the BBB now its "THE GREAT EGG RACE"

heres a challenge for all of us here. and if anyone wants to post it on the VOD be my guest more people the better!

been thinking of something wierd and wonderful for all of us to have a go at, just abit of fun nothing seriuos (yeah right) :) but see who can make the best egg carrying device! and see how far we can can send an egg across the country, could even add a sticker when found please phone home with location see how far we got our egg launchers :) im just kicking this over and offering it up here for all of us to have a stab at one, get the wife involved get the kids on it, gtake it for test runs etc etc, just abit of fun... we could maybe stage it at the next BBB with a big day lauching eggs :)

there arnt any set rules as i only just thought of it but heres a main couple

A, when you release the UFO it lifts an egg!

B, It needs some form of propultion to send it on its way

but basically build it out of anything you like, but dont forget folks once you let this sucker go you may not see it again so loose all parts used to build, not worried on the egg lol.

well guys what do you think? do we have a goer?

heres a quick picture to give you an idea...

Having your phone number on it my not be a great idea!

The next of kin of the person the battery, motor and egg kills, as it fall from a thousand feet, will be able to call you up and spoil your day!

Quite like the idea of a GER at the BBB though.  Perhaps having a few rules to keep it within the confines of Chugs field might be an idea though!

battery = button cell (keyfob)

motor = tinyist thing ever engineered (elastic band) love paper air planes by magazines...

egg = blow it - no insides

ballons = not too much worrierd over them

How about turning it into "the great egg toss", that's something we could keep inside the confines of chugs field.

The only rule is the egg must be unmolested (uncooked) and still be whole when found.

So how can I make a bio powered canon ?

You have a good point, but even if he throws it off the top of tosser towers it wont reach chugs field.

But a tosser is still a tosser no matter where he is, so lets call it the great egg scramble.

I like the idea. Whilst bio would be pretty pants for a cannon, Methanol is a far more promising candidate  :)

I think I'll stick to the methanol idea - by the time you get enough steam to launch the egg, either it will have fledged and flown away on it's own accord or everyone will have fallen into an alcohol induced coma.

I think a methanol vapour powered 'spud gun' in the dark would make a lovely pale blue muzzle blast

But by the time it's dark enough to see the lovely pale blue muzzle blast everyone will have fallen into an alcohol induced coma anyway.

I used to do this with the kids when teaching.

The rules were to make an egg thrower and an egg catcher. Both could be 'maned' which lead to some fun on the catching end! The eggs could not be protected, ie no wrapping in bubble wrap.
The winners were the one who threw the egg furthest and caught it whole. You can have as many tries as you want till the egg breaks.

Also a fun game if just eggs a d 2 people are used!
