I've been offered it, but a little stumped as to what to do with it if I was to pick it up.

Ideas?

(And no, I don't want to make 2.5 tonnes of candles

Checkout ebay and the like and see if you can find someone who does make candles, maybe they would be interested.

I just looked at ebay ... 1kg is selling for £5.95.

Undercut them at £5/kg and you're (edit ... make that) £12,500 (edit) richer ... just need to pelletise of flake it.

dont you have a lister engine?

i forget the sums, but i think its about 2.5kw electrical output per liter of fuel (and about 4 of heat)

so thats...

about 6,000 kw of electrical energy. At 10p / unit saved, youre looking at £600.

Not as good as the £12.5k julian was talking though!

Yes, it is wax. I think a lister would burn it if it was up to temperature. However, dickjotec wouldn't be able to use it as it's a hydrocarbon product.

I wonder if it could be used as a boiler fuel. Hmmmm....

I might investigate and see what form it's in.

when we melt it we use water bath as it burns quickly just like chocolate

People run listers on melted solids all the time. The parrafin bit would be the concern though - you would think wax would lubricate, but parrafin does not (so i guess it could go either way?)

Maybe a bit of veg mixed in, assuming they would mix...

Ive given some thought to how to twin-tank a boiler, and i dont think it would be so hard. But it would need to be firing for extended periods, else it would not be worth the bother.

only other problem with wax is it sets in seconds where solids take a while longer to solidify

what sort of melting point does it have?

when i last saw Dick's engine running *evreything* in the shed was hot!

Everything is still hot but it is surprising how quickly it can cool down. 48 hours off and the solids tank begins to set. If it was wax it would go off very quickly. I would be keen to try it but, Unfortunately as been identified,I can only use veg based material as I still hope to claim the ROCs when I work out a way of getting the fuel audited at a reasonable price.
If the forecast cold spell materialises the lister will be running 24/7 again which does get through some fuel.

You could always use HCII's recipe and make more waxoil that you knew what to do with
