my neighbour had his house broke in few days ago, which has got me worried as this guy doeant give a flying fart, (he kicked the front door in) then took what he wanted and (walked off with stuff) plus 5 sets of vehicle keys.

been looking at these babies for 99 spons, they are quite a bit of kit, they can be accesed by pc any where! or on your andriod/iphone in real time! they can be controlled by these items to remotely moving it around anywhere to see all areas of garden or house, which is awesome! and its an intercom aswell (tell the guy breaking in hes a dickwod to his/her face)! and it records video to pc or SD card placed in! sends a picture of events via email or to your phones!

yes really good and in HD high definition aswell at 720p, with very good night vision IR. you can run as many as you wish.

did i mention there WIFI? well they are, it wifi's or ethernet hard wires to your routers! also very smooth video.

'course you need somewhere secure to store the captures.  Sending it to a phone/e-mail isn't much good if you get a lot of of movement triggered false positives (IE hedge blowing in wind, that kind of thing).

I have one set up on my drive and the number of people turning/walking past etc.  Many gigs of captures.  It has zoning and sensitivity turned down for hedges moving in the wind but still the odd stormy day triggers a lot of capture.

but it sends pictures of every movement to your email address or iphone/andriod phone straight away so no worries

no i wouldnt bother its more for video i think but you get pictures sent as its happening real time as it has motion detection. which he cant steal

re false reports, in the options for motion it has 1 upto number 10 settings to allow for this, like tree movements etc

is yours a foscam tony?

maybe remote turn it lower to counter act the path walkers?

Hi Paul,

I install this stuff for a living, I can give you advice on how to choose the right kit. What most people don't understand is the lighting conditions are the most important factor not the equipment.

Also you need to be clear on the primary objective of the camera that you intend to install in a particular location. Some people want to  capture every thing in minute detail and also see an over all view of the area. That is not going to happen.

If you want a camera that will capture facial images of people entering your property you have to install a suitable (suitable lens and resolution) camera that will not be easily tampered with.

But all of these things only provide an indication of an incident on your property they will not prevent it. Start by making sure you have decent locks on your doors and windows and use them. Look at lighting in front and rear of your property and buy a big dog (most effective deterrent!). Mine nearly bit the arse off a burglar who jumped in my balcony while I was 3ft from the open door sleeping on the sofa!

Let me know exactly what your budget is and the lay out of your property and I can make some recommendations. Shame I am too far away as I would have popped round for a chat.

Internal motion detection of CCTV is normally achieved by the recording equipment detecting a change in lighting conditions, they are completely unreliable and its better not to have them. Imagine getting loads of emails every time a cloud passes by or a car drives past.

The only reliable way to do it is to have proper motion detectors that you wire in to the alarm inputs of your recording equipment.

I have had one of these for about 4 years now and it has always been mounted outside under cover,  the wifi side is pretty unreliable unless very close to the router. The motion detection has been useless, on all settings it kept firing off pictures and emails. Mine does not have an Sd card facility so they have obviously been upgraded. Having said that it has a flashing led and you can see the IR lamps at night and I feel certain that in itself is a deterrent.

I would like a Pro Ptz external network camera but way out of my price range.

It shouldn't be a big problem to find out who did the break in, RM. A bit of a guess and a few "enquiries" around the cheaper end of town. The plod probably ain't gonna do anything, even if they know who did the break in.
Wonder if any of it will end up in car boot sales. Maybe a bit early in the year for them.

i guess a good night time camera, clear pics say at 6 to 10 feet, will be in a spot with no real movement except few plant leaves high fence, remote access, real time, price least as poss...
