Could try this one?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-SUCTION-HOSE-STRAINER-WATER-PUMP-DRAINAGE-IRRIGATION-/120546380508

I have one on a pump and it doesn't easily block when shifting WVO, but unlike the other brass one linked earlier in the thread I don't think you could get quite as much out with it before it starts sucking air (I tip the barrels to get as much out as possible).

Steve is doing things slightly different... But when I get my processor back (or build a new one), I'm thinking of a flat 205 litre tank that I have with an immersion heater in it.  Just dump the feedstock in unstrained, then heat and pull up with a self-priming pump using a foot valve with a strainer (so as not to hurt pump).  With the oil at say, 70 deg, I could pump the oil into the processor.

If the strainer gets a bit blocked, it would be no big deal with the oil being very thin / hot

As Steve says though they do block with bits in the oil, you might want something a bit courser into the pump and finer filtration on the pump discharge (10" housing with course filter, or a Y trap?)

Hmm been wondering about a y strainer, not the filter housing though - don't really want anything other than straining until after washing / drying.  Normally 400 micron straining is okay, then glyc wash - or am I missing something?

That'll do me!

Mate that's the one I  have and it was blocking at least twice in every 10 litres after straining through the kitchen sieve.

Might be luck of the draw with the oil then, as I have the 1" version and can pump 60l at a time through it direct from the drums, though it does need unblocking from time to time.

Hello,

Im after a NRV for my bio storage tank.  It will always be submerged in bio.

The one that ive just purchased (for something else) has a disc of red 'rubber' type stuff on it, that i expect to be unsuitable for bio.  This is the one i just bought -

(but, as i say, it was more for the strainer than the valve, and it will be for veg anyhow)

Anyhow, can someone recommend me one for use with bio?

Where did you get this one from Julian ?

Hi there,

This was the ebay link -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310477264827

They had a load, and did not seem to sell them all, so worth a mail, i think?

I purchased the unit to go on the end of my wvo 'sucker up' hose, before my mono pump.  I wanted a corse basket so as to stop snails etc blocking the pipework, but to otherwise let as much as possible through.

I had a mesh basket before, but it blocked so very quickly.

I think I have a bunch of 3/4 bsp x 3/4 brass tails somewhere.  You wanna put the order together and save a bit of postage?

If he does relist post the link here and I'll pick one up too, looks too useful to pass for the price!
