Cheapest way from 1" bsp male to 1" hose?
« on: October 26, 2012, 09:35:14 PM »
Trying to plumb some hose to a pump with 1" male inlet and outlet - so far best I'm doing is 2x 1" joiners at £4.40 each and 2x 1" BSP male to barbs at £6 a kick totalling £20.80

Ouch and then some - more than the pump cost!

Any ideas?

That first one looks the ticket.

I've spent all evening searching for one and there you are all "oh you mean one of these?"

Well hat off to you sir, that's the job all right.

Is that what you had in mind Nige?

Usually when I want odd ball fittings, I make them by cutting and silver soldering scrap fittings together.

Don't be too fussy about barbs, just find a lump of pipe the dia you want, silver solder it to an old socket and use two clips instead of one.

That is  unless Nige gives you puka ones for free!

I'll have a look at work on Monday. The sockets are no problem. The barbed fittings may not be a stock item and could be a problem. Julian mentions about not being fussy about barbs. Would clipping to a nipple not surfice.

How quick do you need the fittings

Hi all
1 way used in the past was to use 22mm copper and cramp a olive to the pipe then slide hose over olive and like Julian said the use two clips
Then on the other end you just need 1inch to 22mm compression fitting. Worked well for me for years

I'd be inclined to put a drop of solder on rather than crimping it.

Morning all
Yes a bit is solder would probably work better and that would give you the freedom to move the olive along the tube (rather than where the fitting dictates.
Using solder you could also use a couple of olives with clips between.

Looking at the trench connectors... they are £8.99 each for 1" female to 1" pipe:

Looks like Nige can get me 1" FF fittings, into which I could insert two of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-BRASS-HOSE-CONNECTOR-HOSE-TAIL-/330816579923

£3.45 delivered

Yes I could do 22mm to hose (which I do on the TAM105 I used to pump my storage drum into the processor) but I need this to be 1" for the pump which is somewhat bigger than the TAM.

Collected the fittings from the sorting office today - thanks Nige!  When the tails arrive to fit into them I'll take a photo :)
