Where are the others?
« on: December 11, 2010, 12:20:09 AM »
I must say im slightly disappointed with lack of contibutors esp from the other forum :(,theres a lot of knowledgable people on there,so how do we get them to post? if we just stick up help wanted threads we will probably start to annoy people, and as Chug says we cant pressure people
Do you think it would be wrong to approach people? for example ive met Dick and his 15 min venturi would be nice in contrast to the others, should i mention it to him?

Completely agree with everything you say, especially ramming it down peoples throats on the forum.  I think the best way of increasing interest is to just to link to a wiki page when a suitable question is raised.

It may be that people are put off by the techie side of it, which is understandable if they are not that way inclined.  Jim expressed an interest in contributing early on, but as he admits himself he's not very good with 'puters.

I think your idea of approaching people individually is a good one. I've contacted two or three for permission to use photos and content, and everyone was only too pleased to help.  This including GL who has said we can use content from his site with suitable credits.

If you all put links in your sigs over on Paddy's and any other forums you are on and refer people here if any questions arise that we already have articles about, then I'm pretty sure contributions will steadily grow.

Agreed - the people I've approached for photos have all been more than happy in "check my album in case there are any others you want!" way.

Bit of linking may help over time, just needs a bit of patience.  Very impressed at what has already been put together in what is quite a short time.
