Try ctrl-F5 if you can't see the new logo.

By our very own Keef  8)    Thought I'd try a poll as I've never made one here.

"Calm down dear", as they say ... it's all rush rush rush!

Keith was going to have a play with the layout and I've had a few ideas too.  I think some of the colours on mine were altered when converting to a png, so may need tweeking ...

I quite like the first set of logos with "wiki" and "forum" but don't know if that detracts from the simple cleanliness of the original.  Having asked the missus she says they read like "Bio forum powered" which doesn't work, and I'm inclined to agree in that respect.

As far as colours go, I've got a terrible sense of style but anything orange/yellow/green fits the theme.  The missus likes the dark green/light green combo, I like the orange/green the most I think.  Whichever choice should have the orange oil drop over the i of Bio, which is a touch in the original that I really liked very much.

Not sure how I feel about the smaller "owered" leaving a gap between the top and bottom rows.  I'm not a graphical designer so feel a bit at sea on layout aesthetics!

I also really like the favicon interlinked b and p idea, would have to scale it to 16x16 to see how it compares to just an oil drop.

They are all only suggestions, up for discussion/pulling apart and I don't want to steal Keiths thunder ... it was he who came up with the original design.

He was going to have a play over the weekend, so lets see what he posts up and if there are any suggestions of improvements from others.  My gut feeling is that we are very much on the right track.

I can't easily play with this at home because of the broken laptop screen and doing it at work is pretty hit and miss because of having to give priority to their work. I just happened to have a quiet day last Friday so got stuck in straight away.

My preference is Julian's more rectangular design with the smaller "owered" as it puts more emphasis on bio than powered, but with the oil drop over the I of bio.

As for colours, I'm not that bothered but I think that we should further emphasise bio with quite a bold colour.  The oil drop must be yellow/gold/orange and green is usually in there somewhere when it comes to anything recycly/envo friendly but doesn't have to be.

I completely agree with the favicon.

There's no rush at all, see if you can find time to play next week and post up your preferences.

Personally I'm not wild about the oil drop, but more than happy to go along with it as the majority seem to like it.  If we go with it can I suggest it's made to look more oily by adding a reflection, perhaps just a white streak or classical window reflection, but keeping the format as line art for simplicity and colour control, not importing a photo.

Keith, what's the laptop?  It's a long shot but I've got a Toshiba, where the screen is good but the laptop runs like a snail on Valium.  If it will fit you're very welcome to it.

Don't particularly like either of these, but they might spark some ideas from the viewing masses!

What about adding drop shadows?

That last one is so Austin Powers it's hard not to like.  I wonder could the d of powered be made into a tall tail to frame the right hand side (would also allow the "owered" to be extended slightly.  Might look crap, but could be good?

Edit: Tried it, looks crap

Maybe height stretched "owered"?

I guess that's more like Julian's Austin Powers one above but without the fancy reshaping. Hmm.

I love the Austin powers logo, a bit quirky but well proportioned like most of us. (Thumbs up smilie goes here)

Yep the more I look at it the more I like the Austin Powers one.  I think it needs a similar white space over the top of the d as with all the letters that follow the well spaced o and w.  That in green over orange with an orange oil drop would do it for me, yeah baby yeah!

It was only a sample of the sorts of manipulation that can be acheived ... I've now got serious doubts about both of your stanadrds in taste!

All the alterations you suggest, Tony are easly acheived, but lets see if many others have similar bad taste before I spend time getting it mm perfect!
