My latest collection had a visit from Environmental Health recently and the season ticket WTN was inspected and approved. I know it may be different with EA.

OK, so Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) of Economic Activities codes... looking into this:

2003 codes are for hazardous waste (as some paperwork has required this from 2005 and they don't want to disrupt existing audit trails)

2007 codes are the most up to date ones to use for other waste - like veg oil.

The Office for National Statistics sets these codes:

The document gives 2007 and 2003 codes but we should be using 2007:

56101 is "Restaurant (licenced)"
56102 is "Restaurant (unlicenced)"

These are for full service restaurant - however there are codes for self service restaurants (IE McDonalds style) as well as hotels and burger vans too, obviously these codes need to be changed as appropriate for whoever you are collecting from.

So I've made some changes to the WTN, will upload it when I'm happy with those (after lunch?)

I see T19 has also been updated in April 2012:

Key limits:

You can physically treat or store up to 5,000 litres at any one time.
You can chemically treat up to 250 litres at any one time.
You can store waste for up to three months

Reading through the review paperwork http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2012/630/pdfs/uksi_20120630_en.pdf page ten - the 250 litre limit is an addition (presumably to bring it in line with the old LRW 003 code).

What I'm trying to determine (for the WTN) is whether "We consider the following activities as non-commercial and do not usually regulate them under Schedule 1 of the Environmental Permitting Regulations" still applies.  I think it still does because it says so on their website.  There is nothing explicit in the 2007 Schedule 1 about non-profit exemption so it seems this is just a position taken by the EA, so although the Environment Permitting regulations have been updated their position must still hold.

Of course being exempt from regulation means there is no legal impediment to exceeding the T19 key limits (we're not regulated) - however I'm sure the EA would much prefer that we all keep under the key limits if we are to retain our exemption (if it still exists).

there is a line somewhere that says although you don't need to register you are still expected to follow the guide lines.

as far as i am aware the 250l processing limit has always been there it the only storing for 3 months thats new and i suspect a problem to us all.

the main parts for us on the WTN's are the SIC code and this statment

"By signing in Section D below I confirm that I have fulfilled my duty to apply the waste hierarchy as required by Regulation 12
of the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011"

if they don't have this our supplier will get a ticking off and that will put us in a bad light, the T19 business is between us and the EA which is whole other ball game.

Storing for three months max is not new, it's been there since T19 started.  I spoke to my local EA office about this and they said that as I'm not regulated that I don't need to comply with this, however they would like me to comply with the other key points, even though it is not a legal requirement to do so.  It's all about staying under the radar and not drawing attention to yourself by doing something daft.

They did say that if I wanted I could apply for T19 anyway just for piece of mind, but they don't have enough funding to do inspections so getting a T19 is just a paperwork exercise and will be granted.

looks good apart from the sic code not being formated correctly, they should be like this 56.10/3 not 56103, this is the very thing a little hitler from the EA will complain about.

Right, gotcha - I see the Office for National Statistics formats them that way but their big PDF must do it in the short style.  I'll update wiki and xls appropriately.

but i am confused why you are linking to the ONS web site and not the enviorment agency site, I would of thought that as its the EA we are dealing with we should be refering to them here.

I thought the ONS defined them and the ea is just one of many agencies that use them?
