WVO processing on an industrial scale.
« on: September 12, 2012, 09:39:15 PM »
Hello!

First, i just want to say i've been a long time lurker on this forum and i have learnt so much here. So thank you for this wonderful forum of collective knowledge it has helped me a lot in understanding this field!

As stated in the title, i am starting my own business in Collecting & refining waste vegetable oil on an industrial scale; I am talking 500+ Metric ton per month.

At present, the WVO we collect has MIU of around 8-10% and FFA of 12-20%. So we are looking for the most efficient cheapest and quickest way to process the above specs to be 1% and 3% Max respectively.

For the MIU we're heard of the heating method to evaporate the moisture but this method seem to only reduce to 3%? We're also considering the vacuum/suction method but we/re not too sure wether this is the most economical method? And how about the impurities?

For the FFA, we've heard of using a neutralisation unit and to use acid esterification with Alkaline?

Remember we are looking to process this on an industrial scale of more than 500+ MT per month so we are looking for the quickest and most efficient way to process these two specs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and if the information proves to be useful then there might be a chance of hiring the right person to coordinate the setup of our factory in the far-east with all expenses covered + salary!

Thanks

James
