DW8 on veg?
« on: April 07, 2021, 02:32:13 PM »

Looking for a small van and XUDs are almost non existent these days but have come across a few with DW8 engine.

Do these run ok on straight veg and what are the chances of finding one with a bosch pump?

Is this Bosch or Lucas?

and this one?

Top one is hard to see.
Bottom one looks like a bosch to me.  Look at that little triangle sided bolt head in a recess top right - classic Bosch VE.

The top one is Lucas, the other one is Bosch but from a turbo engine, looks to be a later 1.9td in a 406/xantia.
Skoda Yeti L&K 2L TDI 150 CR DPF Adblue, running pimp diesel.
VW Golf SV 1.4 TSI DSG.

Thanks for the help guys. Steve the grease has given some advice on the other channel re fitting an XUD pump onto a DW8 so I might find a small van a bit easier with that option.

I did the same conversion as Steve (1.9td Bosch pump on a 2.1td) it's a big job and there's no official pump timing figgers so it's trial and error to get it close enough.
You'll need to find a fully mechanical pump though (think 405 not 406) as the cold start on the later ones is electric and on veg will cause problems.
But I covered around 90K with this combo but that was on bio not veg.
