If you melted it into a tank of bio, it might add to the available energy for combustion?

I'm sure I read about this being possible for polystyrene (disposal by melting into biodiesel and burning in an engine) but the thought of trying it does not appeal to me.

I suspect burning a small quantity in a pot would leave residue, much as it would in an engine.  Haven't tried it though - anyone fancy experimenting?

There is a paper from a university on melting polystyrene into bio.
From what I remember, it was quite successful, gave a good explanation of why it works, and it did have a significant positive effect on the potential energy of the bio.
Doesn't mean it would work in real life though.
No idea of where on the web the paper is, it was ages ago.

Sounds interesting.  We really ought to give that a go at the BBB.

We haven't, so far, hatched any Womble bashing plans so it seems reasonable that we experiment with biostyrene in his Disco.

If you stick it in a LR how will you tell if it has an adverse effect? it could just be a normal LR break down

Would bio burning in an open container produce yellow flames and soot anyway?

I got as far as dissolving a polystyrene cup in bio. It vanished very quickly!
The next stage is 'Arash territory'. :D
Brewing bio. And still not breaking cars!

As long as you DON'T dissolve him before he's paid me for the i3 printer I'm building him.

Alas, your biostyrene plan will not work as I have made my last batch of bio and will be running a veg/dino mix by then.

However if you wish to fill my tank with biostyrene it'll save me a few quid.
