Could you recommend any reading material on classic uk cycles?
I have been following a thread on guys who collect them and its quite interesting, i come accross a few but wouldnt recognise a good one if it bit me

Hi Keith. I've lost the cycle resto. bug for the past 18 months.
What kind of bikes? There was wealth of handmade frame builders post war, until cars/m'bikes got available and cheaper.

General hint on what's interesting / worth saving; quality frames built with Reynolds tubes sets, 531 being the most common.
Or Columbus, if French / Italian.
Tange, Japanese so quite rare.

Go for a post-war rod braked heavy 'un. They have lazy frame and steering angles suitable for a 'cruiser'.

The sort with enclosed chain case, 3 speed with dynohub. Well made bikes. A shed find might look rough but the main parts will be fine. Not worth much in this state.
