Seems like a clever idea to me.

Certainly is, but if I'm understanding it right, neutral isn't a fail safe, it relys on one shaft turning to make the out put shaft stop ... there's no physical disconnect.

Perhaps in these days of stop start engines that's no an issue, although I understand they don't automatically stop when cold.

Didn't Williams  of F1 fame develope one like that a few years ago only to be banned 'cause it would have beaten everyone else.

They are quite brilliant.

Sadly, public perception was terrible. Thus they (mostly) flopped in vehicles. Certainly being banned from F1 didn't help.

The Aixam has one (just ask HC) but that's quite a different implementation to this guys one.

Anyone got information on the Williams one?

I suspect that we are in an era of highly efficient diesel and petrol engines, right before they get pushed out by direct drive leccy motors.

Our kids kids will look on the internal combustion engine as we do on steam.

A mate of mine took delivery of a Tesla S on Monday and has promised to bring it round ... haven't seen him yet though.

0-60 in something a little over 3 seconds!  From what I've seen on the internet it's a stunning car.  As far as I can work out it takes DC and converts it to 3ph AC to drive the motors.

Normally when someone gets a new car you open the bonnet and discuss the contents ... you can't do that with this thing, it's got two boots!

Tesla cars are recalling 90,000 vehicles, I bet they cheated the emissions tests.
