you dont get nuffink for nuffink
« on: June 16, 2015, 06:04:20 PM »
*forum exclusive offer*

free entry for two to the ADVENTURE OVERLAND SHOW.

http://www.adventureoverlandshow.com/

now, seeing as you dont get nuffink for nuffink,

they technically aint free.

i run the car parking at this event in my role as a member of this lot https://www.justgiving.com/team_chaos/

in total we have raised over 40 grand for Macmillan.

we take no money, pay our own fuel and expenses and every single penny raised gets donated.

so, if you want to go, all you need to do is give me an hour of your time pointing cars into parking spaces, then the rest of the day you have unlimited access to the show.

not a bad deal really.

camping is available in our own private area with access to the food/beer stalls/live music.

all for an hour pointing at cars...

these tickets are for sunday as julian and julian (dunno which ones, too many julians) are doing saturday.

any questions just ask.

thanks Ged.

PLEASE NOTE, THERE ARE ONLY TWO PLACES FOR SUNDAY.

Chug and Linda have kindly swapped with Jules and myself.

So we will drive up, sat afternoon, camp over sat night, and do the show on Sunday, if that's good.

Took the 101 for mot on Fri in preparation.  Failed, but only on minor stuff - retest later this week.

Thanks to Chug, Jules, Linda, Chug, and myself attended the show.

Some very flashy campers, and a few bits of interesting kit.  Will give me some food for thought with the 101.

Anyhow, a big thank you to Ged for sorting this out.

Yeah nice one Ged, good to meet you n Tracey and the kids and good to see Jules n Julian again.

As Julian says there were some expensive campers, whose common theme seemed to be lots of electrical things to go wrong and very little room to move inside, and this has made us appreciate our simple old Merc 709D even more.

We had been talking of having a change around with the Merc now that our daughter has flown the nest and its just the two of us and we will be using it more and this has given us some inspiration.

Yup, it was a good show. There were seriously nice trucks there although I did have the thought that you really need to be heading to Africa  or some equally remote area to warrant one of those monsters. They seem to do between 10 & 15mpg, cost two months wages for a set of tyres and require something a bit larger than a normal driveway to park up.
If I was touring in a vehicle (as opposed to a caravan) anywhere in Europe or the USA I think I would just go for a normal motorhome. The trucks are great but clearly made for a purpose.
Having said all that, if I won the lottery I would be VERY tempted

Thanks to Ged for the organising, Tracey for the Sausage bap on arrival and Chug for the very welcome coffee

It was nice to catch up with you all, especially having missed the BBB

I actually quite enjoyed parking cars for an hour, I would be more than happy to help out again, although I suspect staying overnight and partaking of a few beers would make it an even better weekend.

Only a fraction over 2hrs each way to do the 140miles to and from Julian's in the Rangie and it didn't break either (Ged was impressed we even made it there).

and Ged, I still dont see what's so wrong with 'keeping it in the family'  ;D ;D
