Hi Tony,

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I'll give you all a little bit of background relating to me.

I'm a Chemical Engineer and have just started working for Olyphant and Talbot Fuels Ltd, a small commercial manufacturer of Biodiesel in Wednesbury, West Midlands.

We currently produces batches of Bio from usually 2000 litres UVO / WVO at a time.
We are also operating a Waste Oil Collection Service.
We currently Sell to several independent Petrol Stations and a few haulage companies. We will soon be selling our product from site for small users in addition to wholesale.

Yes, welcome.

With your background, any contributions or improvements you can make to the wiki would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Refreshing to see that you're not using smilies! (unlike some!)

Haha,

No not related, at least not that I know of!

I'll try my best to add some nice info to the Wiki. I've come across a lot of mis-information so far on the internet in relation to biodiesel so far and was pleasantly surprised that the wiki actually contained useful information with people talking through the different processes they are using or have tried.

I particularly liked the testing of Additives for biodiesel. Nice useful information, with pretty pictures and sensible reasoning.

and as for smilies  :D

I meant is K.H related to Chunder  (it's a smilie thing from a couple of days ago on the VOD forum).  Believe me, you defiantly wouldn't want to be related to Chunder!

We try to stick to facts on the wiki, but I must admit that some of the basic stuff is historical with little or no research, just what's become the accepted norm.  To prove or disprove and improve historical stuff would be excellent.

If you need any graphics for additions you want to make, I'm happy to help.

I've added Ross to the wiki editor's group, so he should be able to log into the wiki with his forum credentials and tweak away!

Awesome Stuff,

If I notice anything I can tweak (without giving away trade secrets :P) Then I'll be certain to input.

It's likely the MD of our company and Our Business Development Exec (also very clued up on Bio) will be joining the site fairly soon, so will let you know as and when they come along.

Excellent, it is good to hear of small scale commercial biodiesel plant successes in these trying economic times.  Are you planning to go the RTFC route, or if under 450k litres/year absorb the extra duty costs yourselves?

I understand there is a lot of concern in the industry regarding the future trade value of RTFCs, and the administration cost of employing verifying accountants for traceability of the feedstock oil.

I can't say for sure, that is up to the MD and Business Exec. I would be highly surprised if we didn't go RTFC when we are able. We will be manufacturing in excess of the 450,000 litres / year.

From how I see it, we will have no problem meeting our targets for RTFC's as we're producing 100% B100 from UCO / WVO and trading all by-products and waste streams to other companies. We have buyers for our Glyc and FFA's. We will be collecting the oil ourselves so will have WTN's (Waste Transfer Notices) in place for all the oil we have on site, showing its renewable credentials.

I honestly believe that RTFC's are going to sky-rocket, with smaller companies like our selves way exceeding our targets for RTFC's hence receiving back more shares than we need for compliance and then being able to auction off our surplus to the Petroleum Companies for a tidy sum.

I think for small operations the traceability (except when buying in the oil wholesale or from a separate WCO Collector) will not be as complex as many fear and even then you can demand your suppliers provide you with this traceability prior to purchase. I know for the large companies and the Petroleum giants this is going to cause some administrative nightmares and supply chain.
