heres a weird post....
« on: November 27, 2014, 12:38:05 AM »
the mother in law died tonight.

she`s ok though. we left her having a cup of tea and moaning at the doctors.

she said she felt funny afterwards but all she wanted was a cup of tea.

dont worry, i havent lost it. she went in for a camera into the lung as she aint been well for some time. they think the gel they used to numb her throat had caused a reaction.

when her heart rate hit 200 they injected her with something to stop her heart.

she said she felt the exact moment it stopped. the silence in her head, no blood moving. she felt her legs and arms go numb until she couldnt feel them. her eyesight went to light and dark and all she could feel was the doctor massaging the arteries in her neck (presumably to feed the brain) then it all just slipped away to nothing. just black and silent.

they kept her like that for about 30 seconds. by all accounts they gave her another injection to start it again. she cant remember though.

then she said she could feel a wave from her legs moving upwards and when it hit her heart, BAM. bloody thing started again with a belt and everything came back the same way it went.

told you it was a weird post.....

Truly weird, thay can do some strange stuff these days but to bring back from the dead is truly science fiction.
Glad she, and yourselves, had a good outcome.

When me mam was a nurse MSRIP she had to bring folk back that were trying to escape the Doctors. She said they had 3 minutes from flatlining before the brain turned Cabbage like. She had her stories but it makes you wonder what happens in that time before they catch you againe eh dunt it.

I don't like considering my mortality, and even less so the post-death moments.

I know you know this, but ill say it all the same! : )

Just because your heart is not beating, does not mean you are dead.  All the heart is is a pump, to supply the rest of the mechanism with oxygen (etc) and take away the wastes.

If you turn off your reactors pump, that does not put the reaction into immediate stasis.  The instant after the pump is off, not a lot will change, and then things will slow in the following instants.

Of course, if you believe the fairy tales about 'souls' and the like, it all gets more difficult to comprehend.  When does the soul leave?  If someone gets significant brain damage, where's the soul then?

But, if you dont need a deity (etc) to justify your existence, and offer you an alternative to accepting your absolute and total insignificance, 'you' dont go anywhere - the order in your brain just starts to fall apart, along with all that you think you are.

Catch it quick enough, and youre back.  Leave it too long, and youre soup.

Im told i was in hospital for a couple of weeks once.  I was out for a while (im told) before my first memories of the occasion.  Classic sci-fi stuff - having to ask people what year it was (etc).  A load of people have asked "where do you think you were in that time" or similar.
I wasnt anywhere.  The machine inside my skull was like a piece of damp paper that couldnt be written on, nothing more.  I have no delusions of grandeur.

Anything more, and youre back to fairies living down the bottom of the garden ; )

Very true we only have one life enjoy it while you can.

This life is not a rehearsal for something better later on.

Julianf. I totally agree with your view on the human body but I don't really know what I believe in really. probably the Earth and the Sky but after listening to my old mam and her stories. Well who knows what the spirit really is, but I do know it sure isn't Holy or anything to do with any Diety. but that's just me.

if you meditate for long enough it all becomes very clear. the problems arise when you try to explain that to someone else. "we are a construct of our own imagination" someone probably said. as regards the heart stopping some monks have been alleged to do that without any noticeably ill effects.
