I bought a new car.
« on: September 10, 2014, 09:13:00 AM »
It's a shame Tony's largo was just a little too small to get all my toys in the back.

This, however, is just the right size.

It's a Toyota Granvia - a derivative of the hi-ace van. 3.0L 1KZ-TE engine with a Denso electronically controlled injection pump. Good for straight WVO, although I'll be running it on bio.

For something it's size, it goes like stink!

Nice!  Is it mid-engined?

No, engine sits in the front. It's an auto too.

There's a few small problems with it, brake judder, handbrake adjustment, one worn out tyre, and the turbo is mysteriously loud.

I had two Largos, one was wrapped.  That one is now sold.  Very enthusiastic new owners, they're proper pampering it!
Keeping my 40k mile one, it would be impossible to replace at that mileage.

On the lookout for a new project car, got my eye on a Largo in Brighton which needs a front CV joint.

Not a bad idea.  There were lots of people I didn't know this year and I asked most of them who they were but still failed to put some names to faces :)

Looks tidy, same engine as 90 series cruisers and surfs. Just make sure the rad and cooling system are running ok. I would also fit separate atf rad and not let it dump its heat in the coolant. They are very tough engines with plenty of torque.

Did you sell your bruiser?

Perhaps you could include a self-incrementing counter to track the number of comments you make in conversation?

I keep looking at Tony's avatar, waiting for something to happen ... a sea monster to appear or a nuclear explosion in the background, but nothing.

It's just "nice!"  Come on Tony you can do better than that surely?
