The shed is CLEAN!
« on: August 31, 2014, 08:29:19 AM »
Anyone that has visited my shed over the last couple of years will know it's a pit of utter filth.  Well, I had an epiphany moment yesterday, where the amount of filth was unbearable.

So, I've cleaned it.  And the misses cleaned it (she's a keeper - getting in there with the spiders to wipe surfaces down with IPA!).  It took all day, chiselling the years of layers of accumulated compacted sawdust off the concrete floor and wiping stuff down with IPA.  Turns out old cement is good for wicking up spilt bio and oil too. :)

Now I can see the floor, it's amazing!  Arms and back hurt though!

It was only 5 litres!

Also I have nearly 200l of red diesel, but that was a gift ;)  (The M67 heater runs on it).

Having been in Tony's shed I can say that it was probably the filthiest I've been in. Well done you for seeing the light...and for many a year.... seeing the floor ;D

Mmmmmmmm, I feel I'm being shamed into cleaning my shed out and the garage is getting so full of oil and empty 20lt tin drums I can't get any more in there.

Mark used to bang on about how messy his old shed was (I've not seen the new one) but I can safely say it wasn't a patch on mine.

Jim gives the impression his is layers of sawdust too, though I've not seen it for comparison.

I feel like I could potentially even weld in there now without the whole thing going up.

There are so many layers a geologist could use'm for dating, there the pre bio, concrete, early bio, cat litter, middle bio, cardboard and late bio, saw dust with sprinklings of cement.

Dry cement REALLY soaks up small spills an stops that sticky/tackness under foot.

It was the underfoot squidgyness that finally got me.  It got to the stage that I was wearing old trainers with carrier bags in them to stop it soaking into socks.

I've got scalpens on the floor of my shed. It does soak in and solidify quite nicely.
