I think i might have a go at a fittings page,types various names and so forth?
I think ive got most parts needed for the pics,i will start with copper as its less of a minefield than the iron,it might be a good idea for me to get JimM to have a look over before i finish?

How about contacting BES and asking if you can use their graphics. Tell them it's a not for profit site, many members use their products and each graphic will be credited to them using ... "Source: BES". If they agree it would save a great deal of hassle.

That would be very helpful KH, I am busy with my new processor and the most time taken part is sourcing the parts, what to look for and above all where to get them from eg. fittings that will take temp gauges, without adding bits to bits to get it to fit together.

I'm interested in using iron for the next processor (though I have some nice wide bore 1" copper from mark, that may end up in a multitube PD). In fact, sadly enough, I had a dream about plumbing in iron last night... I remembered (in the dream) that you said something about the last bit being difficult and needing a special threaded bit to finish off two joints?

Ive taken some pics today and will upload a few tonight,see what you think?.
I think this could be a long job,im going to start with the basic connections and names and then start on the more processer specific bits,i will leave the malleable iron untill last as even though i used it last time im not that up on it

Tony the bit you need is a "union",i had to use 2 on each circuit to get it all done up

Doing mine in 2" was enjoyable and frustrating,all i can advice is to assemble it dry beforehand,let me know as ive still got some various bits kicking around,
Ive got a good old fashioned supplier near me if you need any bits,there all in pigeon holes upstairs,i just sit on the floor and assemble what im trying to make and they will always take back any unused bits

Mine won't be in 2" pipe like yours, don't think I'll end up with such a monster pump (looking back on it, you really did land a total bargain with that one!) Probably 1" or 1 1/2. I can borrow a threading tool+vice/stand.

Anyway, as for the page name, just make sure there are some smileys in the URL so everyone knows it's friendly.

Didnt we go with your suggestion? multi tasking?
Tony i only did the main run in 2" everything else incl the wash tank is 1"
any comments on the pics? are they good enough?

I was just leafing through BES to get ideas on the malleable iron front when I encountered the unions - bottom of this page:

Edit: holy moley, I've just seen the price of 1 1/2 and 2" lever ball valves, I'd have to remortgage to put a few of those in the system!

Mind you could be worse, I found one place that sells 3" ones for a bargain £72 each.
