Catalyst page, request for comments
« on: November 26, 2010, 01:38:52 PM »
I've created automatic redirects for NaOH and KOH to the Catalyst page

http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/Catalyst

I've written this off the top of my head so comments on content or suggestions for expansion would be appreciated.

I've add the chemical formulas as NaOH and KOH are linked to that page.  I think there's quite a lot more that can be written after a little home work but what's there looks OK to me, perhaps just links to Wikipedia for further info.

I appreciate that the whole idea of a wiki is growth and revision over a period, but I'm heading in the direction of trying to create comprehensive pages to start with.  The thinking was that fuller pages with considerable content would appear be more appealing and hopefully inspire others to join in.  Don't know if that's the right way to go ... any thoughts?

PS how do you force a link to "catalyst" from "NaOH".  Thought this would be useful on several occasions but didn't know how it was done.

I think you're right Julian, the best value is in the detailed pages.

As for redirects, just add

Quote
#REDIRECT [[Catalyst]]

...on the first line of a page (for example, the KOH page), and the redirect will be automatically triggered on visiting, BUT - only if the destination page exists.

There is a list of redirects here:

http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/Special:ListRedirects

If you click on one and hit edit - there's the code for the redirect (so they can be modified to go elsewhere if required).

Thanks for the contribution, good points on NaOH soap settling more quickly than KOH too.
