Interesting day yesterday
« on: January 19, 2014, 02:03:27 PM »
Well it started with me going to the breakers to get an in-tank pump for the 306 (that's an ongoing sarger of it's own), couldn't get one for a 306 so picked up a 406 one thinking it looked the same.

Once home is was clear that they're not the same, so I started to pull both of them appart to try and make it fit, got half way through and got a phone call from SWMBO, her car was playing up and didn't want to start.
At this point I decided to stop and have a cuppa.

Then another phone call from SWMBO to say her car had cutout and would not start, so off I went with code reader in hand.

Cleared the fault code (low pressure system) and noticed the in-tank pump wasn't running.
My car is suffering from low power (another ongoing sarger) so I couldn't tow hers with that, so a quick phone call to my brother and a tow was arranged.

Once the car was home I went about making one good unit out of the two (breakers one and the one out the 406),
all back together and running giving me 30 mins to shower and get ready for a 40th birthday party (much beer consumed).

All in all to so bad, but my daughters 306 is still not running, so next weekend I'll be doing it all again.

I wouldn't mind but the German one I have got is giving me problems as well, it's well down on power.

Cars are not going well for me at present.

This afternoon I stripped the old turbo down (off my C250) to rebuild it with a kit I brought off Ebay,
you guessed it, it's the wrong kit, even after giving them all the part numbers off it they sent the wrong parts.

I feel that MB can be just as bad as the French. I was getting at maybe trading in for something VAG ;)

I have often looked at Passat's but anything that I can afford has been to the moon and back, twice.

You have my sympathies. It's like a row of dominos. Once one thing goes wrong, every thing else follows.

My sons casso played up yesterday but I ain't got a maxi fing to read the fault.

Fortunately it cleared itself after 5 restarts.

Oh I wish I had a Maxi fingy.

Yet to get the Bluetooth gadget to talk to the ecu, the Torque Pro app works on me tablet though and I'm quite impressed with it.

Mark you know on the 406s the sender is a bit tall, you have to push down and distort the base of the tank as you bolt into place?

I know mate, it's spring loaded so pushes right to the bottom.

The 306 one is a smaller diameter opening which is why the 406 one wouldn't fit.

You'll get it back soon I hope, possibly at the same time as the telly.

Maybe you need a Skoda Mark - VAG engineering for East European money.
Mind you, I am still sorely tempted by an Audi Allroad to replace the Rangie.

Would this be a good point to say that I have just towed my caravan 200 miles this weekend, complete with two sets of roof ladders in it with the RangeRover and, despite it being subzero this morning and the car being covered in ice, it didn't miss a beat  :)

Funny you should say that, I've just been looking at Skoda's on auto trader, not that I have the money.

My merc still doesn't miss a beat, but the beats are a little weak at present.
As you know it's not lacking in power when running properly.

I'm presently surprised.
I sent the Ebay sell of the turbo parts a message and he's got back to me already,
it's sounding like he's going to sort it out for me.
