I'll have a bash at titration.  Chug, your theory and chemistry assistance would be appreciated.  I'll post bit by bit if you can check and edit.

No worries I'm good on theories not so good on the chemistry

Have you had a look at the old titration article? may be some help there.

Tony ... it's ok I can do the basic photos, equipment, colour changes etc.  I was after slightly more  complicated stuff like the burette type thing on a stand that some people use.

Yes, along with others.  It will be a day or two before I can get anything posted.

Good stuff so far Julian,

I think it needs to be in the plural though as there is more than just one free fatty acid.

Used vegetable oil, on the other hand, will contain Free Fatty Acid(s) in varying amounts largely depending on how, and for how long, it has been used.

Free Fatty Acid(s) play no useful part in the biodiesel reaction and need to be removed. This is done by adding additional catalyst with which they will react to form soap which is removed later as part of the production process.

Titration is a test that simply determines the amount of Free Fatty Acid(s) in the oil

and are you doing just turmeric or wiill you add phenolpthalien too?

Thanks Chug, changes made.

I had mentioned Phenolphthalein but as turmeric is so cheap and readily available I wasn't going to cover it any further.

I've rejigged all the wanted links to be file links - this takes anyone that clicks them to the Upload page, and they also appear on the http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/Special:WantedFiles page.

IE was [[photo of digital scales]] now [[File:photo of digital scales]]

They were only really there as a memory jogger for me as the page develops and may not be the final file name.  I'll put a note adjacent to each lest anyone else uploads photos, although on current showings that's not likely!

Julian/Tony...the photos you requested have now been uploaded. I'm sure you know where to find them.

Also the three missing photos from my origonal draft on "soap" have now been uploaded for insertion.

Kind regards,

Nige
