loctite 55 thread sealer

I am fitting a wood burner with a back boiler and have to fit a few
1" bsp connectors as space is very limited it is difficult to get the
elbows in the correct orientation was recommended loctite 55
by a plumber friend
I think its better than tape as it does not ride up the thread
anyone here tried it

Never used the stuff, but it certainly looks good. Always got on well with Loctite stuff.

not sure if its called 55 but recently used blue liquid loctite on twin tank valves, seems to be holding...

Loctite is good and will do the job but i would use (system seal) its better.

locite also do liquid gasket, holds oil and extreme temps for automobile enginges

I think you might be wrapping the tape the wrong way. The best was is to wrap it so that as you screw the fittings together the tape tightens.

That said, I'm not sure tape would be the best on a woodburner. I've used liquid sealants before, but I forget their names. They work though!

To long in the tooth not to know how to put on ptfe tape [clockwise looking at the end of the pipe ]
the best thing about this ptef string is the ability to adjust a joint by a 1/4 turn with confidence
it will not leak after the adjustment

Sorry, didn't mean to teach you to suck eggs. It always surprises me how many people fail to get it right. I've even seen it on hydraulic compression fittings.
