Interesting - get Sodium metal from NaOH

Seems a simple process but getting powdered aluminium magnesium would raise a few eyebrows!

EDIT: Magnesium, not Aluminium (which gives off Hydrogen and would make hell of a bang)

Ahh yes you're right - I was thinking powdered aluminium because of the previous vid I'd seen on releasing hydrogen.  (Though aluminium foil seems to work quite well!)

Ive got loads of 6000 series aluminum swarf.

Who knows if its pure enough, or fine enough, but, if i could think of any use for a lump of sodium...

 read my post above. its NOT aluminium he used in the video its magnesium powder. aluminium  and naoh will make hydrogen. not what you want to put a lid on and light a fuse anywhere near.
