Good evening all!
Ok Im not techy or good with plumbing etc etc. So i was looking to get me going with biodiesel some machines on the market i can just throw in and do a little chemistry.

1) yorkshire green fuels 180 l drum

2) biobuddy

3) biobot

any pros/cons? experience of these? or recomendations??

Aye--They are all CRAP, overpriced and dangerous!

Its much better to make your own if possible or get a Proper G.L. type from a member here......

Sorry Pete, but the truth is that there's really very little on the market that experienced brewers would feel happy using. Most have serious failings in safety, or design, or both.

It's not hard to make your own. And the knowledge and experience will help you to fix it when it breaks.

Just to prove I've actually looked at them and am not an 'Armchair Expert' that seem to frequent forums:

Yorkshire Green Fuels: Non sealed processor, No level switch, No methanol recovery/removal, No provision for any sort of fuel finishing, no insulation to prevent you burning yourself.

BioBuddy: Plastic reaction container, No methanol recovery/removal, Very little finishing. Can't see if it's sealed or not. No level switch.

Biobot: Non sealed, No methanol recovery/removal, Plastic reaction container.

I suspect that with a combination of A&B Oils and Tony in Southampton - trying to get oil may be your first hurdle

and as mentioned mr jamesRL does make nice ones even if he does loose me sometimes...

Hi Pete, you're in for some stiff competition for oil in Southampton what with A&B's big depot here. But, it's not impossible!

Get a regular supply of oil first as you know it can always be offloaded (happy to help

) then figure out the fuel processing equipment.

Generally anything with a 3kW heater mounted into a plastic vessel of any description is inviting a big fire a some point. But making bio doesn't need to be complicated - a steel drum, pump and immersion element will get you going.

What car are you planning on running your homebrew in?

whats the rough cost of setting one up?? and are there any gents willing to assist for beer lol. or something similar.

well, ive a dodge journey 2.0 diesel and renault trafic van for my hog roast business. www.thejollyhogroast.co.uk if anyones interested? website being amended as we speak for a new one.

ive also heard the fuel filters become clogged? from reading im assuming this is from the engine being 'cleaned' by the bio?

Self build or member build is the way to go.

Does the hog roast produce much fat, as this could be used for bio in the summer months.

Also are you busy the first weekend in June next year ?
We know why I ask. Don't get any ideas jim.

yes i do actually. i probably get around 4-6 litres ish out of a 40kg pig.
