My new processor is taking ages to demeth......I am just demething the bio & any glyc from the 2nd stage, @ 75c via a quad core condenser with chilled water pumped through. It's taking about 8 hours, is this normal?

Take the temp up to around 85°C and it'll be a lot quicker,
but 8hrs suggests you have a problem that's more than temp related,
is your venturi sucking properly ?

WHAT! Bio only should take no more than an hour or so. There's something wrong somewhere. AS wombles say's the temp is too low, wind it up to 85 - 90C.

How far open do you have the Venturi recirc. valve.

Thank you both. The venturi at least appears to work well, it takes under a minute to suck in 20 litres of methoxide. I am opening the recirc valve fully.

Mine takes ages circa 3-4 hours to get to stoichiometric or just above.  Always has.  I have a four port venturi, two pumps, all be they small ones and it still takes ages.

I've just learned to live with it!
