I have a few old coins....
My Spink book shows 1864 farthing.... Very fine condition........£5-£8.
                                                               Extra fine ...................£40-£45.
                                                               Uncirculated................£125-£135.

The farthing on e bay in the link above is 1863 in poor condition.
Spink book shows................. Fine.................£20
                                                Very fine........£45
                                                Extra fine.......£220
                                                Uncirculated...£500

If its valuable i will expect a soil analysis to find out exactly where you dug it up  ;D

iirc, unless they're in fantastic condition, they're worth more as scrap for there silver in them than they are as coins

my grandparents had thousands of them in there loft when they passed away... kinda sad that they must have kept them donkeys years ago thinking they'd be worth more in the future... but they were probably worth more back then when they could spend them :-(

it wasnt from there, infact i have seen it yet, my lad has been landscaping a garden and dug it up :)

not sure what condition its in?

I don't know where I got the idea from, but I thought some of these old coins were worth a lot more to sell abroad, like some of these foreign collectors placed a higher value on them.
I remember whole shops full of old coins in Madrid. Didn't really take much note, but a lot were foreign coins, and seemed to be marked up at big prices.

sounds about as sad as buying a house and hoping it will be worth more when you have paid the morgage off.
