it doesn't say, and I can't find how much storage we actually have...

guessing we're using a hell of a lot of gas... and it'll take up a hell of a lot of storage space...

I wouldn't be surprised if we only have 24hours of storage for winter use levels anyway.... so down to 6 hours isn't that big of a deal...

also guessing gas usage will plummet overnight... which will give the storage a chance to fill up a bit too :-)

according to that, storage is only 4% of demand

to me, that's not even storage, that's just a buffer

if all our supplies were interrupted/cut off... 'storage' would last about an hour...

I remember this coming on the news at the time. Because of the cold weather, there was unprecedented demand, combined with a supply chain issue.

Eastern europe was having extremes of cold and their useage was well up aswell.

Something happened, a supply pipe went pop, or a pumping station exploded, somewhere in eastern europe, I don't remember right now.

Basically, it was a set of unusual incidents, all occuring at the same time, not really an issue with lack of storage.

Its simple really all our gas is privately owned by company's whose sole aim is to make profit .Running gas storage plants most have been closed.
They are a cost with no benefit to shareholders .
So there will be no more storage built by these Dick Turpin company's unless required to do so by law.
If supplies are interrupted they will just wring their hand shake there heads and put prices up whatever the cry will be we need either more money to build storage if forced
to do so. Or the gas itself has gone up the weird thing is like petrol prices go up and down but gas prices to the end user continue to rise
enriching the shearholders of these mainly foreign owned  company's .
