old one is out in the rain already

That's no way to treat it after it served you well for years.

Will it be going to a good home or the or the big Bio plant resting place in the sky?

It may be out in the rain Jim but it is under a cover, I will strip off the insulation when I get a chance and by then I will know if I have room to re-home it for dewatering etc. it is fully functional still so if I don't need it I will put it up for grabs on here before Eblag.  It has done me proud.

My processor stands out in the rain 24/7, even when it is processing, as you know Steve.
Treat it mean keep it keen that's what I say!

No No No, that's how you're supposed to treat women, reactors are far more valuable.

Two very pretty looking processors. Can't see much will ever go wrong with them for many years. Nice engineering.

Trying to work out the expansion of oil from cold (15 deg c?) to 70 deg C.  to figure positioning of eductors.

The tank is 500.9 to the top of the inspection opening, 491.1 litres to the top welded seam, 435.21 excluding cone, 56 litres in the cone and 4.3 litres for every 10mm.

Based on 380 litre batches and  18% meth x 90% for the first reaction (61.56 Litres) plus a bit for KOH?? Plus a bit for expansion??  So any ideas as to how much volume the 7 grams x 380 litres of KOH adds to 67 litres of meth?

So far the best I can see ref the thermal expansion coefficient for oil is 1 deg for every 14 deg c increase - is this correct? This being the case I would expect to see 3.93% expansion between the values above would be about 15 litres or apprx 35mm?  or about 80mm below the level of the top welded seam?  If this is correct so far, I just need to add in for the KOH - any ideas?

i think as long as they are below the correct position there are fine. you don't want them too high up according to a certain trumpeter, too low is not a problem.

Cool!  Thanks mate - I'll have to have a chat with the big trumpet - He made them after all (1" single stage)

Practically finished my shiny new toy.  Moved it out of the garage into my nearly built shed.  The inline heater has been configured with a Grunfos pump, I've water tested the double cone, wired up the heater element and water pump :-) Just need to fit the condenser and wire the 2 x 110lpm pumps and we're ready to go with the first batch.

Will do!  Got the lintels on the french doors to the shed today along with a few more courses of bricks and blocks on the inner leaf.  As soon as I get tidied up, I'll take some pics.
